I think the book is getting way more interesting as we go! I think it is so cruel how the Germans lie, and stuff them into tight places. Can you imagine being in Hannah's situation? The poor children too. I don't think I could stand getting my hair cut off, and being a number and not a name. I think Hannah is a very brave character. If I knew what would happen to them, I don't think I could hold it in like she did. And getting changed in front of everyone must have been so uncomfortable too. :(
The part in the devils artithmatic we are in is intresting and scary. I think it would be scary to be kindnapped by nazis. It would be especially scary to be in a train and see a baby be smuthered. I would be feeling really scared and sad if i were hannah. Thats what i think about the story so far.
Yeah. I would be a totally new person if that happened to me. I would wonder how many people there would be to suffer that. I would guess the children would cry for there parents; I would. People would whine for food and beg for more water too.
The most interesting part would probably be when they arrive at the camp, and have to learn the rules and get their hair shaved, and take showers without clothes afterwards!
I think the book is getting a lot more interesting. It's really mean how the Nazis lie to get them to a concentration camp. Most of the Jews will be slaughtered and they have no idea. Also, I don't get why no one will listen to Hannah. Just because she was sick a few days ago means she's crazy.
Some people might try to steal food from the nazi or even more valuble things then that. I would try to dress and disgiuse like a nazi and try to escape that way.
I'd be really scared to be in Hannah's situation. Knowing what the Nazis would do would be terrible. She's probably thinking that she's going to her death.
I mean deeper... like inside, what would you be thinking about, I mean, I would feel scared, but I would be thinking about my family, and who I am and how I ended up here...
Each week, you will be required to respond to the section of reading you have completed. Include questions, reactions, favorite parts, etc. You then must respond to what each of your other lit circle members wrote as well. Be sure to provide possible answers to your team members’ questions. Ask them questions about their reactions to the reading. Have fun!
Example Response
John Smith: Wow! I am so interested in this book. Could you imagine being orphaned at our age and having to be able to survive on our own? Crispin has no other relatives to take him in, and it sounds like he is not very accepted in his village. I wonder why John Aycliff is after him? Life was so different during this time period. People could be killed for doing what we consider very minor things. Life sure was difficult. I am curious to know what you guys think about this book. Do you think Crispin will stay in Stromford or run away? How will he escape John Aycliff?

Do you think Chaya fits Hannah? Every time I call her Chaya, it feels weird. I think she is definately a Hannah, and not Chaya.
yeah i agree megan I am really wondering what will happen next.
Nice Liam! I totally agree with you. If I had been kidnapped by Nazis, I would be scared to death.

What is the most intresting part to you that happend in these chapters?
Yeash, I know! I wouldn't know what to do, or anything! The poor children... They must be scared half to death, and the poor baby smothered...:'(
That was pretty sad with the part of the baby being smothered..

I can't wait to get home tonight and see what else is going to happen to Hannah.

YEah thats probably what i would say Megan i thought that was pretty intresting!
Yeah, I would rather die then go to a concentration camp, but I guess I would also try and run away somehow.
What would you have done if you were in Hannah's (Chaya's) situation?
I would try to escape.
There's no point of killing yourself to not go to a concentration camp. There is a chance of surviving. And if not why not live a little bit longer.
I wonder how she's going to end up. Probably dead, probabvly a slave, etc. I wonder why the time says on the blog, 7:54 instead of 10:57...
This book is really good! It is well written and you can imagine what it was like to be there!
Because evan they barely give you food and the hurt you.
What do you think will happen next?
I was thinking the same thing Kate...
Yeah I guess I could survive a little longer, but they could torture you so much that you could commit suiside.
I think hannah wwill try to escape.
I don't know, I just hope no more children die. Have you started reading the next part that was just assigned yesterday?
No I havn't started reading the next part.
I started reading a little

I would try and be as calm as I could and do what they tell me to. I wouldn't want to get whipped or any thing like that.
Yeah I would cry all the time and be soooo sad and scared.

What would you do if you were going to the gas showers
I don't know. You don't really know for sure unless you are actually there.
Well, they weren't gas showers, but if they were, I feel so scared, but as they said, "We're in God's hands"
I would miss my family and friends and everthing I care about. I would be really sad and try to hide from the nazis as much as I could.
