Wow, being stoped by a soilder for running down the street can you imagine wouldnt that be scary. An d poor ellen I wonder were her parents are? Any guesses?
What i thought about Ellen was "This girl is afraid of a lot." Of course I did not know at the beginning of the book that she was Jewish which certainly changed my idea of her. Every little aspect of the girls is desrcibe and Lois Lowry did such a good job describing her characters. When I think about all the black curtains hanging with no light coming through it gives me chills. I mean not knowing whats out there going from a wondeful life to being afraid every moment of the day.
well im really exited to read on the book is so good. Dont you get exited when you read it. i wonder how its going to work out for Ellen and Annemarie pretending to be sisters. Kirsti is so funny when she got home after she bought new shoes made out of fish ha ha. Im still wondering were Ellens family is
Wait you know the prolog. Where the Nazi's come into the bedroom. I think whats gonna happen is they will find out Ellen is Jewish but I hope they dont really bad.
Nice job describing Ellen. For me annamarie is a strong out going person and she is very worried for her family and friends.I think she would be a very good friend. Anyways Im worried about all the the jews in the story. When Annamarie went to the button shop alone with Kirsti I was afriad she was going to be stopped again.

Example Response
John Smith: Wow! I am so interested in this book. Could you imagine being orphaned at our age and having to be able to survive on our own? Crispin has no other relatives to take him in, and it sounds like he is not very accepted in his village. I wonder why John Aycliff is after him? Life was so different during this time period. People could be killed for doing what we consider very minor things. Life sure was difficult. I am curious to know what you guys think about this book. Do you think Crispin will stay in Stromford or run away? How will he escape John Aycliff?
